Back Porch Fabrics in Pacific Grove, California

post signature
Have you ever been to Monterrey or Carmel or Pebble Beach, California?
Nestled right by the beach, is the cutest city,  Pacific Grove.
They have a really nice quilt shop called Back Porch Fabrics.
I'll give you a little tour....
There was a trunk show in the workroom, and all the quilts were made by these two ladies, who have been friends for over 30 years.

Here are some of the quilts they made together.

This one looks like a Freddie Moran, I bet they took a class from her!

One of the signs of a good quilt shop, is their sale table.
This table was full of bolts of fabric that were on sale, that was a really good sign!

This quilt shop has an awesome selection of books and magazines!

I thought their notions wall was good, but no Lori Holt rulers.

Another view of the trunk show.

I only made a few purchases.
The quilt shop had a great selection and a lot of fabrics I really liked.
I only bought these fabrics because I thought they were different.
I bought the green dot because you can never have enough for backgrounds.  I bought the rest of the bolt, about 2 l/2 yards.

If you ever find yourself by Pebble Beach golf course, or Carmel, visit this wonderful quilt shop in Pacific Grove!

The beach was less than a block from the quilt shop :)

North State River Run, continued...

I finished the shop hop, it was a long day.
I drove the back way there, stopping at all the shops on my way to Redding.
I made it to Redding, only to face the 3 hour drive home.
There was one quilt shop on the way home that broke up the time.
I arrived in Sacramento just in time for bumper to bumper rush hour traffic.
I was pretty tired when I got home.
My shop hop passport was full, and hopefully I will win one prize!
This was a cute Hallowe'en quilt I saw.
The fabric was colored with fabric crayons.

I've always loved this quilt, I've seen it in blue and in black before.

Look what I found, a whole shelf of "Sew Cherry", Lori Holt's first line of fabric.

I found a treasure, Sandy Klopp's American Jane "Wee Play" from 2008.
I have a little collection of American Jane fabric, so I bought some fat quarters.

I bought 2 fat quarters at almost every store and these are my purchases.
Thanks for sharing the quilt shop hop with me :)

North State River Run Shop Hop

I really wanted to go on this quilt shop hop last year, but my daughter's little boy was born the night before.
He was eight weeks early, so I flew to Utah the next morning and helped her by looking after her then two year old little girl.
Rebecca's little boy Benjamin just turned one year old.
I went to five quilt shops this afternoon.
Look at this!  A quilt of Audrey Hepburn!
I think it's gorgeous!

Apparently, you can make a quilt from a photograph.

Isn't this quilt beautiful?
I love the ominous sky with the lightning bolts!

I'm not interested in making one of these quilts myself, but they are works of art!

This quilt shop was in Auburn, and their theme was
 "Breakfast at Tiffany's".
I loved their theme decor!

Cute little cupcakes!

I went to a really sweet quilt shop in Grass Valley.
They had so many bolts of fabric, that half of them were stacked up on the floor.
I've never been to that town before, it was old fashioned.
I want to go back with my husband and look around a little.

I saw another quilt that was designed from a photograph.
As you can see, it was sewn with patchwork squares.

Tomorrow I'm going to finish up the quilt shop hop.
I'll have more photos for you :)
